15 minutes at a time to maintain a clean home. I’m sharing a few tips that are working for me as a working mom trying to keep it all together and looking good at the same time!
In my quest to become a domestic goddess I have been looking for blogs and videos with tips and tricks that I can use to be a better homemaker. I’m finding a lot of resources and of course sharing them with you.
If you’re not already a fan, I suggest you check out my facebook page because I post things there that I don’t do a whole post for! I like to post things I find from other blogs there and shout them out! But anyway, onto this post…
In many of the information I found it was primarily for stay at home moms and housewives. That’s not what I am of course…I’m a working mom and am expected to do it all with very little time.
In the past few weeks I’ve learned that taking 15 minutes {or even less} to do a quick clean up can make a big difference.
Whether you’re able to do that each day during the week, or if you do several 15 minute breaks during your weekend…it makes the hugest difference.
Here’s some examples of things that I’m really doing and they can all be done in about 15 minutes or less:
- fold a load of laundry, switch load from washer to dryer
- do the dishes or if you are lucky enough–load/unload the dishwasher
- wipe down the bathroom sink/countertop with lysol/clorox wipes
- wipe down the kitchen countertop with lysol/clorox wipes
- do a quick pick-up and put-away in any room
- do a brief throw-away in any room {especially the kids room and areas where there are too many toys–I grab a trash bag and go grab happy!}
- do a quick donate sweep in the house {same as above but these are items you’re gonna give away, not throw away}
And these are just a few of the things that I’ve incorporated into my life. I would love to say that I do these 15 minute breaks everyday, but that would be a lie.
In reality I do this mostly on weekends. It’s a great way for me to not be on the computer all day, or to not watch tv all day.
Plus it makes it so much easier to keep things manageable in the home. I do this with my organizing {allow more than 15 minutes of course}. That’s how I’ve been tackling areas of my home, a little here and there adds up to it getting done!
