Wanted to do a quick post to share my Super Doubles trips over this past week. I did not get the opportunity to really do any pics this go round. I had the rare treat of having something to do this weekend, so that made it a tad difficult in really getting my shopping done.
I made a total of three trips.
My first trip I took a pic at work and posted it on my facebook page. I went on Wednesday before work and almost everything I wanted free, I got, with the exception of Suave lotions.
The only item not pictured was the 5 hour energy that I had already opened. (I’m an addict)
So a couple of things about this first trip:
- I went for freebies only (except the 5 hour…again, addicted)
- I planned to spend less than $3 and I spent $2.53!!! Now get this…the 5 hour energy was on sale for $4!!! #Score
- 93% savings
- NONE of my ZVR coupons came off. I did some research and found that on day 1 of Super Doubles…this is a known issue.
So let’s address that shall we? In order to avoid this being a major issue a couple of suggestions are:
- check your receipt before leaving the store. have your list of ZVR’s and customer service will take care of it.
- the ZVR’s is run by a 3rd party company, so don’t take your frustrations out on Harris Teeter. They will adjust it but it’s out of their control.
- print out all of your saved ZVR coupons that way it’s easy to have it corrected.
Now, I would have loved to go back to the store and have it handled. But it was too cold for that and it’s not that serious to me. Now had all of my ZVR’s come off, I would have had to get some candy or something to bring total to zero. But I’m not complaining about my 93% savings AT ALL! Plus, it made it possible for me to get more free Barilla pasta entrees on my next trip 🙂
My second trip I went early Saturday morning. I had to go to Chapel Hill, NC for my cousin’s bridal shower. I was up late Friday night trying to get my list together. Usually I can find time during my workday on Friday to get a basic list and then I fine tune it at home. I didn’t have that opportunity on Friday so it hindered me.
The Saturday Special for me was milk so I figured I’ll go and get that and a couple of other items and then I’ll go back Sunday.
On my Saturday trip a couple of things of note:
- usually with any buy 2 get 3 free offer HT restricts you to only using 1 coupon, or only on the items actually being purchased. For example a coupon of $1 off 2 means I could only use 1 coupon because according to HT, the other items are actually free. Well I decided to give it a shot and it worked. I had two coupons for $1 off two Ragu sauces and an Evic coupon (ZVR) for $1 which means I got 5 pasta sauces for absolutely free!!!!
- I planned to get two large Hawaiian Punch’s for the kids for about 70 cents each but the cashier said the coupon said DND so that sucked. I only got one.
- My Suave lotion was available again but the ZVR did not load whereas all of my other ones did. I didn’t notice until I left the store. But didn’t have time to do anything about it because I had to hit the road. I still got it free with my coupon regardless but still.
So on this second trip I paid $18.67 oop. Saved $42.67 at 69% savings. I got another 5 hour energy…smh.
My final trip was on Sunday. Savings were not as big and I didn’t stick to my list. I did get $.50 Eggo pancakes and $1 pack of batteries…and another 5 hour energy.
I paid $25.07 saved $22.69 at a 48% savings.
This Super Doubles I had pretty good notice. I thought I was mostly prepared, but I had some coupons that I hadn’t sorted and that didn’t help things. But I appreciate the savings. It’s not every day you get 5 pasta sauces for free!
